Vietnam cat births puppy?: crazy story inspired by China tales
A man in northern Vietnam claims that his cat has just given birth to a puppy, but tall-tales from China are probably to blame.

Tran Van Duong, from Ha Tinh province’s Xuan Lien commune, Nghi Xuan District, said the unlikely animal was among his cat’s five one-month-old newborns.

Duong said the cat fed her kittens and the puppy just the same, adding that the dog was strong and played well with his “brothers and sisters.”

Duong says he feeds the puppy cows milk and it drinks more than the kittens.

Much like bogus rumors of a magical flower that grew from metal pipes which spread from China earlier this month, Duong’s claims are probably inspired by several other incredulous stories that have cropped up in China recently.

Fibs about cats birthing dogs have not only been heard in China, but in Brazil as well, where the outrageous claim was proved false by blood tests last year.

Most recently, Chinese rumors have been flying about a dog that gave birth to a cat-like creature in China’s Huayang village of Jiangyan city.

Local vets say the kitten is really a puppy that looks like a cat because of a “gene mutation.”
