Within the next five years, the Sun Wah Fund will send underprivileged students who perform well to China to study law, finance and information technology.
It will also help fund the establishment of schools in rural and remote areas, help improve local teachers’ professional skills, and provide help for disabled children.
The fund will further help strengthen socio-economic cooperation and understanding between Vietnam and China, said Sun Wah Group President Jonathan Choi at the signing ceremony.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Vinh Hien said the fund would enhance Vietnam’s efforts to improve educational quality in target areas as well as narrow the gap among local regions.
Beginning operations in Vietnam 38 years ago, the Sun Wah group has business endeavors in such areas as seafood, real estate and financial services.
