A tiger at a private tourism area in the central province of Nghe An has given birth to three cubs, one of them white, surprising the local staff.
The yellow-colored mother tiger delivered her cubs at 6 a.m. Tuesday at the Trai Bo Eco-Tourism Area in Dien Chau District. Two of the three cubs are yellow and the third is white.
Each cub weighs around 1.2 kilograms.
According to the farm's management board, the tiger that fathered the cubs is yellow as well.
The African-origin mother and father tigers were imported by the farm in September 2009 when the female was only six months old and weighed 25 kilograms.
She grew very fast and gave birth to the three cubs after around four months of pregnancy.
The mother tiger and three cubs are reportedly in good health.
Nguyen Sy Phong, director of the Trai Bo Eco-Tourism Area, said the cubs' difference in appearance is due to a rare gene defect.
He added the farm now has a total of nine tigers five white and four yellow.
