Vietnamese students win 3 golds at int’l math conference

All six members of the Vietnamese delegation brought home medals, including three golds, from an international mathematics contest for high school students that wrapped up July 13 in South Africa.

Vietnam also secured two silvers and one bronze at the 55th International Mathematics Olympiad, held in Cape Town on July 3-13.
The gold medalists are Tran Hong Quan from the northern province of Thai Binh, Nguyen The Hoan from Hanoi, and Pham Tuan Huy from Ho Chi Minh City.
Vuong Nguyen Thuy Duong from the central city of Da Nang and Ho Quoc Dang Hung from Ho Chi Minh City won silver medals. Nguyen Huy Tung from the northern city of Hai Phong won the bronze medal.
Vietnam ranked 10th out of the 101 participating countries that sent 560 students to the contest.
In other news, during the 25th International Biology Olympiad held in Bali, Indonesia on July 5-13, Vietnam won one silver and three bronze medals.
