The Association of Vietnamese Students and Professionals in the United States will host a conference on the East Sea (South China Sea) next month, an office-bearer said Thursday.
Nguyen Dinh Phu, president of the association, said the symposium titled “Militarization of South China Sea and Its Consequences” will take place at Harvard University in Massachusetts state, on April 2.
It will examine the implications of aggressive activities and militarization in the sea, especially the threats to regional and international security, and discuss possible scenarios for peace and stability in the region.
The conference will be broadcast live on YouTube and Google Hangouts so that a worldwide audience could watch online and ask the panelists questions.
The panel will comprise scholars, journalists and professionals including the BBC’s Bill Hayton and The National Interest’s Harry Kazianis.
