All eight Vietnamese students competing at the Asian Physics Olympiad have returned home with medals.

The students won one gold, five silver and two bronze medals at the contest held in India, news website Dan Tri reported Monday.

One silver medal was won by an eleventh grader. All the other students are in the 12th grade.

This was a far better showing than last year, when the Vietnamese contingent won three bronze medals.

The 13th Olympiad, which ended in New Delhi on May 7, attracted students from 21 countries.

It is the top physics contest in Asia for students yet to enter universities.
