The contestants had to go through three sections, including self introduction, general knowledge, and presentations on certain destinations, as well as Q&A sessions.

Oanh and Chuong had earlier beat 148 other students from across Vietnam to represent the country at the finale.

The contest, which was in its first year, aims to promote youth participation in developing tourism in the region.

It was part of the Mekong Sub-region's college student cultural exchange program October 17-20, an a collaboration between cities in the region.

The winners, as well as other participants, will be recognized by their local tourism authorities and their voice as well as information could influence the tourism policies, the organizers said.
