Vietnam's first entomological photo exhibition will continue through Sunday, in Hanoi.

Co-organized by the Vietnam Nature Museum and the Italian Embassy in Vietnam, the exhibit will display 35 panels containing more than 200 photos of Vietnamese insects.

The pictures were taken by Doctor Vu Van Lien at the museum and Italian photographer Saolo Bambi for scientific purposes but also have broad aesthetic appeal.

Professor Lien's images of young caterpillars were honored by the Entomological Society of America as being among the best photos of 2009.

The exhibition aims to promote biodiversity and raise awareness about the preservation of insect species and their habitats.

The event was started on Thursday at the Exhibition House, 45 Trang Tien, Hanoi.
