A Vietnamese student has won the country’s first ever gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad, while her compatriots won one silver and two bronzes.
Vu Thi Chinh, a Hanoi 12th grader, won one of 23 gold medals awarded this year at the first Olympiad hosted by Vietnam.
Another student from Hanoi won the silver medal and two others from Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa Provinces won the bronze medals.
The 27th edition International Biology Olympiad held from July 17 to 23 in Hanoi, attracted 264 students from 71 countries and territories.
China, Singapore and Taiwan aced the contest, with all four participants in each team winning a gold.
