A total of 264 students from 68 countries and territories around the world are set to compete in the International Biology Olympiad to be kicked off in Hanoi this Sunday, local media have reported.
It will be the first time Vietnam has hosted the annual global contest, which was first organized in 1990, the Vietnam News Agency said on Tuesday.
The week-long competition is also set to be the biggest in its history. Last year 61 delegations with 239 students took part in the event in Denmark.
Since the country's first entry in 1996, Vietnamese students have won one gold medal, 10 silver medals and 45 bronze medals, according to local media.
