The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology combined to hold a four-day conference on biotechnology, which got underway in Hanoi on January 14.
Titled "Application of biotechnology in agriculture, health and environmental protection," the conference is focused on the utilization of new biological techniques to sterilize soil and deal with wastewater.
The conference is being attended by scientists from the two countries so that they may present their latest studies. Together, the two delegations will consider the feasibility of the recommendations rendered by those, news webiste Vietnamplus reported Monday.
German participants include representatives from major research institutes such as Helmholtz and Fraunhofer, the JÃ¼lich research center and the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Food, as well as those from universities and small to medium-sized enterprises.
The Vietnamese delegation includes representatives from the Biotechnology Institute of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, along with top-ranking universities and enterprises.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology has also invited the German delegation to visit local biotech laboratories to help them understand the current state of the biotechnology in Vietnam.
