A project that will create specific social networks for groups and clubs has won a group of students from southern Vietnamese universities a Microsoft-initiated competition.
The iDream group, made up of students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Sciences and Lotus University, claimed their victory at the finals of the Imagine Cup Vietnam 2010 contest held in the city on Friday.
They will represent Vietnam at the international finals of the contest in Warsaw, Poland on July 3-8.
Launched last August, the annual competition this year received 42 enties from nearly 4,000 students studying at 20 universities nationwide. It is the third time that Microsoft has cooperated with the Vietnam Association for Information Processing to organize the contest.
The worldwide final this year challenges students to "imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems."
Initiated by Microsoft in 2002, the Imagine Cup runs over the course of a year beginning with local, regional and online contests.
Last year, over 300,000 students from 142 countries and regions registered for the contest.
