The Perseids, a meteor shower believed to be the best of the year, will be visible from Vietnam on the night of August 12 and early morning of August 13, according to Nguyen Duc Phuong of the Vietnam Astronomy and Space Association.
Phuong said the shower will peak during that time with an estimated 60-80 meteors to be visible per hour.
The best time to watch the meteor shower would be around 1 a.m. on August 13, according to Phuong.
He added that the sky must be clear and cloudless for the meteors to be seen.
Vietnamese stargazers should stay away from big city lights if they want to enjoy the best moments of the meteor shower, Phuong said.
The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids are so-called because the point from which they appear to come, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus.
The shower is visible from mid-July each year, with the peak in activity being between August 9 and 14, depending on the particular location of the stream.
