The first of a series of concerts under a project to "bring music to hospitals" was held at the National Hospital of Pediatrics in Hanoi on December 9, the Vietnamplus newswire reported Saturday.

Famous artists from Hanoi, including singer Thai Thuy Linh and comedian Xuan Bac, performed famous children songs and comedy skits for more than 200 patients and staffs at the hospital.

The program also included a talk show between the organizers and the child patients aimed at encouraging the latter to overcome their difficulties and pains.

According to the organizers, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union under the Ministry of Health, the Association of Artists, and the Hanoi MC Club, the project aims to promote music as a tool to release the pain of patients and reduce stress of medical staff.

The project is also expected to serve as a bridge between the community and the health sector. It will also raise funds and support from organizations and communities for its activities.

The show will take place every two weeks at hospitals across the country and be broadcast on 02TV Channel of the Vietnam Television.

The next performance will take place at Hospital 103, 111 Phung Hung Street, Ha Dong District, Hanoi.
