Leaders from the southern city of Can Tho announced Wednesday that some 50 hectares had been reserved for a major international university project in the Mekong Delta's commercial hub.
At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, local authorities said the lot, which currently crossed An Binh and Long Tuyen wards in Ninh Kieu and Binh Thuy districts, respectively, would be doubled in the future to make way for the Public International University.
The US$100 million university would need to hire qualified lecturers from Can Tho University and others in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi, they said.
Offered majors at the university would include Information Technology, Banking, Finance Administration, Urban Zoning, Urban Management and Architecture with English as the main teaching language.
Last April, the Ministry of Education and Training said that construction work on the project would commence soon.
