The Japanese Festival 2011, celebrated on Oct 16 in Hanoi, will include debates and art performances by high school and university students.

The Japanese Cultural Exchange Center in Vietnam (The Japan Foundation), which organizes the festival, said it would have two parts - a debating contest in Japanese and performances by local high school and university students and Japanese learners of all levels.

Two outstanding participants will be awarded a two-week study tour to Japan.

According to the Japan Foundation, the debate contest, which was first organized in 1997, aims to create a favorable environment for Japanese learners in Vietnam to practice Japanese and strengthen the friendly relationship between the two countries.

Over the last 14 years, the festival has attracted more and more students and Japanese learners.

This year's event will be held at Foreign Trade University, 91 Chua Lang St., Hanoi.
