An endangered sloth was on Thursday returned to the jungle after a resident in central Vietnam handed it over to the authorities.

The sloth had entered the resident's house by accident, the unnamed resident said when calling Education of Nature-Vietnam, a Hanoi-based wildlife NGO, news website VnExpress reported.

Nguyen Van Quan of the center said the sloth was transferred to local forest rangers who released the animal to nature in good condition.

Vietnam bans the use of sloth for commercial purposes.
