The annual Run for Children will take place on December 4th at its usual location, the Thien Quang Lake in Hanoi, to raise funds for needy children's treatment at the Hanoi Heart Hospital, the National Pediatric Hospital and Heart Beat Vietnam.

Funds are raised from participants' cash donations, the sale of t-shirts and food, and corporate sponsorship.

Water and soft drinks will be provided free of charge.

The Run for Children 2011 has its origins in the famous Terry Fox Run that raised funds for cancer research and treatment from 2000-2008; and included children suffering from heart ailments among the beneficiaries in 2009-2010.

From 2000 to 2010, the run has attracted nearly 50.000 people and raised more than VND 4 billion.

Beneficiaries of this year's fundraising effort will be child patients identified by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO).

The event is co-organized by HAUFO, Embassy of Canada, Vietnam - Canada Friendship Association, Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, KAT Group, and Manulife Vietnam.
