A parent has accused a school in Ho Chi Minh City of wrongfully expelling her 8-year-old son out of spite after she criticized the school uniform on Facebook.
Phu Nu newspaper reported that Nguyen Thanh Hieu was not properly informed of her son's expulsion and she only learnt about it after the new academic year at the VStar school had already begun.
She suggested that the school management was not happy after she posted some critical comments on Facebook in May about the uniform, particularly the tie.
In the post, she asked the school to consider a new tie that is easier for children to put on every day.
"I kindly suggest our dear school to either change the tie or just get rid of it. It looks like a piece of rag on our children's necks," she wrote on Facebook in May.
According to Phu Nu, Hieu went to the school to question the decision and met its vice chairman, Huynh Chau Loc. Loc reportedly criticized her parental skills and confirmed that the school had decided to let her son go.
The report said the school would comment on the case later.
