Three little girls aged 4 to 7 drowned on Tuesday afternoon after falling into a small pond in the central province of Nghe An.
The sisters and their cousin were playing near the pond before the accident happened.
Their bodies were found by their grandmother Ho Thi Nhon, just minutes after Nhon took them to her garden.
Nhon told local police that she was cutting some grass for her cows when she noticed that the children had disappeared.
She then discovered the children’s slippers by the pond. Nhon jumped in and saw their bodies.
Many children have drowned across Vietnam this summer.
Last Wednesday, a young couple in the Central Highlands fainted when they saw the bodies of all their three daughters. The children, aged 5, 8 and 10, also fell into a pond near their home.
