Vietnamese law firm YKVN has been named Vietnam's National Law Firm of the Year for 2011 by International Finance Law Review (IFLR), according to the firm.
It is the fifth time and third year in a row that YKVN was awarded this distinction. The law firm was also nominated by IFLR for Asian "Restructuring Deal of the Year," in recognition of its leading role in the acquisition of a controlling interest in Nui Phao Mining Joint Venture Company Ltd. by Masan Group.
According to their press release, "The transaction was a landmark in Vietnam because it was one of the first corporate restructurings in the country and was a complex test in analyzing Vietnamese law on debt acquisition and restructuring, issuance of securities and options, and corporate reorganization."
The Japanese Airlines corporate reorganization was also shortlisted by IFLR for Asian "Restructuring Deal of the Year."
The Nui Phao Company's transaction "was a great test of our firm's capabilities and I am very proud that YKVN is again gaining recognition on a regional stage for the quality of our work," said Truong Nhat Quang, YKVN Managing Partner.
YKVN was also named "Employer of Choice" for the year of 2010 by Asian Legal Business (ALB), a leading journal covering legal transactions in Asia.
