Vietnamese authorities have ordered Yamaha to recall 83,000 electronic fuel injection scooters to fix a problem with a pipe rack that could cause a gasoline leak.
The Japanese company will have to recall Nozza-1DR1 scooters sold between August 20, 2011, and March 30 this year.
According to the Vietnam Competition Authority, Yamaha has found that the faulty pipe rack could weaken the joints between gasoline pipes and nozzles, causing a fuel leak.
Yamaha has to replace three parts: the rack, fuel pipes, and bolts.
The department said the work would take half an hour.
The 115cc Nozza, which hit the market in 2011, is manufactured locally and targeted at the domestic market.
