Work begins on new urban area in southern Vietnam

Japan's Tokyu Corporation and Vietnam's Becamex IDC Corporation will start work on a US$1.2 billion urban area in the southern province of Binh Duong on March 2, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Covering an area of 714,524 square meters, the Tokyu Binh Duong Urban Area will consist of shopping malls, amusement parks and apartment buildings.

Tokyu Corporation is one of Japanese leading corporations with investments in urban construction, transportation, retail supermarket, hotels and education sectors.

Becamex IDC Corp focuses on infrastructure construction for industrial zones and urban areas, and also has interests in banking and finance, real estate, business, telecommunications, information technology, building materials, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and education.

The two corporations are also working on other urban area projects in Binh Duong.
