The latest oficial statistics show that total foreign investment in Myanmar had reached over US$40 billion by May 2012 since the country opened to foreign investors in late 1988. The regulatory landscape is slated to undergo substantial reforms in the upcoming year including changes to the foreign exchange regime, land rights, foreign investment incentives and procedures, taxation and financing.
