Vietnamese and US officials and businessmen at the launching ceremony of the Vietnam-US Business Forum

The Vietnam-US Business Forum was established in Hanoi on Thursday to act as a forum through which enterprises can make business deals and discuss both countries' market policies.

The forum will also be a bridge for businesses from both sides to exchange their experience, find partners for cooperation and investment, and provide assistance and consultancy.

The forum will organize seminars to promote Vietnamese exports to the US and hold business trips to help Vietnamese enterprises find opportunities in the US.

Dang Thi Hoang Yen, chairwoman of Tan Tao Group, is Chairwoman of the forum. Other co-chairmen are representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam US trade portal, www.vnusa.com.vn, has been launched alongside the forum to facilitate its activities.

The US was Vietnam's sixth largest foreign investor in 2009, with 495 investment projects valued at US$14.5 billion. Taiwan, the Republic of Korea , Malaysia , Japan and Singapore were the largest foreign investors here.
