State-run mobile phone network Vinaphone on Thursday started providing in-cabin text and phone call services on several international flights, becoming Vietnam's first wireless carrier to launch such services.

Vinaphone customers who have activated international roaming can make a phone call at a charge of US$4.30 per minute and send text messages at $0.82 per time, the news website VnExpress reported.

The company has partnered with several airlines to arrange the service, including British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

Vinaphone said it will expand its services to more airlines. The company is also planning to provide in-flight internet services, VnExpress said.
