About 2,500 firms are expected to post promotions on a government-sponsored website to promote online shopping on “Online Friday” on December 4.
The second annual event will offer promotions to more than 15,000 products online with an expected revenue of VND500 billion (US$23 million) – tripling last year’s revenue, organizers said at a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday.
The event is jointly-held by Vietnam E-Commerce and Information Technology Department, Vietnam E-Commerce Association and VnExpress news website.
An “Autumn Online Shopping Day” will be held on August 28 with thousands of promotions.
Organizers will also hold several conferences to discuss issues around E-commerce, including startup, trust building, mobile apps, etc.
Enterprises joining the event can register at www.onlinefriday.vn.
Vietnam held first Online Friday on December 4, 2014, with the participations of about 1,000 enterprises, who received 160,000 orders, by more than three times higher than their daily average.
Total revenues reached VND154 billion ($7.5 million), by 2.5 times higher than on other days.
Up to 80 percent of sold commodities include electronics, clothes and house wares.
