A home shopping company earlier punished for selling smuggled and fake foods was on Saturday fined for advertising wrong information.
The Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA) fined Happy Shopping Company VND45 million (US$2,250) for engaging unhealthy competition through its commercials, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
The penalty is the highest for making exaggerated claims in advertisements about product quality, the report said.
Happy Shopping, a retailer that advertises its products on television, was found making wrong claims about the quality of several products including hair dyer Meizi, face mask Cobor Wrinkler, Eve's Love underpants and Wonderful undershirt.
The company had in June this year been fined VND451.5 million ($21,970) by Ho Chi Minh City authorities for selling goods that have already been registered for exclusive distribution by Best Buy Vietnam.
VCA on Saturday also fined two other television retailers Ngoc Bich and An Toc, VND45 million and VND40 million respectively for deceitful and confusing commercials.
Ngoc Bich advertised jewelry made of copper, iron and rock, calling them artificial diamonds.
