Vietnam to dispute US anti-dumping duties on frozen shrimp

Vietnam plans to dispute the US's anti-dumping measures on its frozen the World Trade Organization (WTO).

A Vietnam News Agency report has said Vietnam has requested consultations with the US on the case.

Under WTO regulations, if the consultations fail to solve the dispute, Vietnam can ask the trade watchdog to establish a panel to rule on it, the report said.

So far the details of the complaint Vietnam filed with WTO have yet to be made available.

Vietnam made the move after the WTO concluded last July that the the method used by the US to calculate dumping margins were inconsistent with international rules and asked the country to stop such action.

In February 2010, Vietnam had filed a complaint with the WTO pertaining to the anti-dumping duties that US has levied on certain kind of frozen shrimp from Vietnam since 2005.
