Vietnam's economy expanded an estimated 5.67 percent in the second quarter from a year before after annual growth of 5.43 percent in the first quarter, the government said on Wednesday.

That contributed to growth in the first half of 5.57 percent compared with a year before, the General Statistics Office said in its monthly report, in line with earlier forecasts by the Planning and Investment Ministry.

The Vietnamese government has recently raised its inflation target for this year to 15 percent from 11.75 percent and cut the economic growth forecast to 6 percent from 6.5 percent.
