Vietnam has licensed a new airline which will provide training, tourism and rescue services, VnExpress reported Monday.
Vietstar Airlines will also offer private flights and emergency flights to remote areas or islands, according to the license granted by the Civil Aviation Administration.
The VND400-billion (US$19.21 million) airline is expected to open an airplane repair and maintenance center in November.
A source from Vietstar said the firm has been preparing for a long time to join the domestic airline market.
"Vietstar's goal is to target the niche market, providing services that have never been offered by other airlines," said the source.
VietStar Airlines has become Vietnam's seventh domestic airline--after Vietnam Airlines, Jestar Pacific, Vasco, Vietjet, Air Mekong and Indochina Airlines.
