Vietnam largest shipbuilder Vinashin on Monday transferred the country's largest oil store above water to its customers in Hai Phong City, the local newswire Vietnamnet reported.
The store was commissioned by the Vietsopetro joint venture and the Petroleum Technical Services Corporation.
FSO5, 258 meters long, 46.4 meters wide and 24 meters high, is the biggest product ever in Vietnam's shipbuilding. It loads up to 150,000 tons and has a helipad.
Vinashin assigned its affiliate, Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Industry, also known as Nasico, to build the store designed by UK and Finland companies.
The store, costing more than US$200 million to build, is equipped with the latest equipment in the marine industry. It takes crude from pipes under the sea, offering first treatment to filter air and water to provide 3.5-5 million liters of oil an hour to refineries.
It has a wastewater treatment plant that is designed to treat up to 2.4 million liters of sewage a day.
The store will be towed offshore Tuesday and will be anchored at Bach Ho oil field after ten days.
