Ho Chi Minh City's port authorities last month fined a Panama ship VND39 million (US$2,096) for carrying undocumented goods, including electronics items, a local official said on Monday.

The goods, including 18 washing machines and more than 1,000 bottles of perfume produced in France, Italy and Germany, have been confiscated from the vessel named Pacific Grace, said Nguyen Van Kieu, head of Saigon Seaport 's  Border Guards.

Departing from Singapore, the 12,300-ton ship, captained by Vietnamese national Nguyen Cong Tam with 12 crew members also of Vietnamese nationality, was caught on February 11 when it dropped anchor on the Nha Be River.
