Vietnam's February consumer price index is expected to grow 1.56 percent from last month, slowing from a monthly rise of 1.74 percent in January, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The monthly rise came after market stabilizing measures were taken to ensure no sudden spikes in prices of goods and services during the Tet festival to mark the lunar new year, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper quoted a Finance Ministry report as saying.

The ministry report did not provide annual inflation data for February, which are expected to be released later this month by the government's statistics office.
