Partly-private lender Vietinbank has entered the Forbes Global 2000 for 2012, the list of 2000 "biggest and most powerful" listed companies the US magazine unveiled on April 17.
The list spans 63 countries and weighs companies based on sales, profits, assets, and market value.
Vietinbank, Vietnam's second largest bank by assets, is ranked 1764 and is the country's sole financial organization and company in the list.
Unlike many other banks that suffered losses or decreased earnings in what was a tough year for the banking industry, Vietinbank achieved a 12 percent increase in profit last year.
Late last year it became the Vietnamese bank with the largest chartered capital after selling 20 percent to Japanese giant Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi for US$734 million.
