Prudential
Vietnam has said all the benefits for AIA Group's clients in the country would
be ensured after the acquisition of AIA by the British firm.
As the deal
has not been completed, further announcements on the issue will be made later,
the company said.
Prudential
on Monday agreed to pay American International Group about $35.5 billion to
acquire the group's Asian unit AIA.
The
insurance sector's biggest ever takeover will transform Prudential into the
world's top non-Chinese insurer by market capitalization, ahead of major
competitors Allianz and AXA, according to AFP.
The Vietnam
branch of AIA also confirmed that the benefits for its clients are guaranteed.
"No matter
who becomes the manager, the interests of clients are still the priority," an
AIA representative said.
Prudential's group chief executive officer Tidjane Thiam was quoted by AFP
as saying Tuesday that Asia is the "most attractive opportunity" in the industry
today. "Asia is the engine of the group's future growth, particularly the fast
growing economies in Southeast Asia."
