Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) on Wednesday donated VND15 billion (US$667,000) to build a temple at Dong Loc Junction in central Vietnam.
Dong Loc Junction in Ha Tinh Province was a strategic road part at the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh trail which was extensively bombed by American forces during the Vietnam War.
It is a famous symbol of Vietnamese heroic fight against the foreign invaders, especially with the death of ten unmarried girls between 17 and 22 years of age, who were providing logistical support in the area. The new temple will be the main one at the junction's historic site.
The management board and all staff members at Vietinbank hope to build a proper place to commemorate the sacrifice of those young soldiers, which has been a wish of many generations.
