Toyota Vietnam has informed local authorities of yet another technical flaw in its cars, this time in the popular Camry model.
The carmaker said it will provide free repair services to front upper arm bolts on 278 Camry cars manufactured between January 28 to March 23. Some of the bolts could have been tightened with a stronger force than required, it said.
The flaw can be found on Camry 3.5 cars starting with serial number XXB6001801 to XXB6001810 and Camry 2.4 cars with serial number XXB6008875-XXB6009175, the company said.
Experts said the flaw is serious as the bolts, if broken, may cause drivers to lose control of the cars.
Toyota Vietnam named the recall "a repair program to satisfy customers." It did not offer any refund option.
Camry 3.5 and Camry 2.4 cars retail at VND1.5 billion and VND1.09 billion respectively, according to the Toyota Vietnam's website.
Further details on the repair program have not been announced.
On Thursday, the carmaker had announced a voluntary recall of vehicles to solve technical problems which it admitted could be found in 8,830 Innova model cars. No details were available on when the repair program would start and how the technical flaws with the brake systems, camber bolts and seats will be fixed.
