Vietnam's technical consumer goods market saw a 28 percent increase in sales last year, making it the fastest growth market in Asia, international research firm GfK said.
Sales in the market reached VND93.5 trillion last year, with almost all sectors garnering double-digit growth, the firm announced in a release issued Friday.
"The country's Small Domestic Appliances and Telecommunications panels grew 42 and 41 percent over the previous year, contributing greatly to propel the country to the top of the table," said Stanley Kee, Regional Commercial Director of GfK Asia.
Across Asia, the technical consumer goods markets expanded by 11.4 percent on average in 2010, according to the market report. It noted that Vietnam, Indonesia and Hong Kong are the three markets which boasted positive growth in all categories.
"The Technical Consumer Goods market is on a roll," Kee said. He said his company foresees that "the tech-savvy and demanding consumers of today will fuel the continual development of this industry and make it shine brightly."
