Swiss watchmaker Candino unveiled a new model called Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) in Ho Chi Minh City last Saturday.
The limited-edition watch features the Vietnamese flag at the top and a legend in the middle that reads “Hoang Sa & Truong Sa belong to Vietnam”.
The new model will be a very limited edition with just 1,888 watches to be sold, 388 for women and the rest for men. Photo credit: Tuoi Tre
At the back is inscribed a Vietnamese map with both the Paracel and Spratly Archipelagos.

Bui Tan Minh, director of HCMC-based Hai Minh Company which distributes foreign watches in Vietnam, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the idea of a watch supporting Vietnam’s assertion of sovereignty over the Paracels and Spratlys came to him in 2012.
He then persuaded Candino to make such a watch to “send a message to international friends that Hoang Sa and Truong Sa belong to Vietnam.”
Only 1,888 of the watches will be sold, 388 for women and the rest for men.
