Swiss firm DKSH, formerly Diethelm, will open a new distribution center in Hanoi early next year to support its ongoing business expansion plan in Vietnam.
The firm, which trades in consumer goods, healthcare and performance materials, already operates six distribution and two logistics support centers in Vietnam.
The new center, which broke ground last month, covers 10,000 square meters and is being built at a cost of 12.5 million euros (US$15.3 million). It will replace the firm's two smaller distribution centers in the north.
Joerg Wolle, president of DKSH Holding, said Vietnam has evolved into an important hub of the company's operations in Asia, making great contributions to its growth last year. They expect this to continue in the years to come, he said.
Of its global workforce of 22,000, DKSH employs 2,500 in Vietnam. This is among the highest for the firm's operations outside Switzerland, Wolle said on Tuesday at a press briefing held to announce the new name of the firm.
