Sofitel names new food & beverage director; wins pastry prize

Sofitel Saigon Plaza, one of the leading five-star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, has named a French national as its new food and beverage director.


Julien Tavagnutti graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management in France. He comes to Vietnam after spending four years working at Sofitel Shanghai Hyland and Novotel Peace Beijing in China.


Sofitel, located in downtown's glitzy Le Duan Street, has garnered the highest recognition for its pastry team at the Vietnam Pastry Competition 2010 held on November 4th at the White Palace Convention Centre.


The Sofitel recently took first prize for best "A-la-carte dessert" and a bronze medal for the best cake presentation at a competition organized by the Australia-based food supplier Fonterra Foodservices and the Saigon Professional Chef's Guild.
