Fuel giant PetroVietnam and other state-owned companies continued to dominate an annual list of Vietnam's largest enterprises this year.
The VNR500, announced Monday, placed Samsung Electronics Vietnam in the second position, followed by fuel retailer Petrolimex, Electricity of Vietnam, and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company, which is managing the country’s sole oil refinery Dung Quat.
Coal mining group Vinacomin and PetroVietnam’s subsidiary PVGas are also in the top ten.
State-owned companies account for 57 percent of revenues of all companies in the list, which also considers other criteria such as profits and the number of employees.
In terms of sectors, fuel and mining accounts for 31.6 percent of the total revenues.
The largest private companies are property giant Vingroup, automobile maker Truong Hai, and food producer Masan.
The VNR500 is published annually by Vietnam Report, a Hanoi-based research company.
