GE Oil & Gas, a US oil equipment and services supplier, said it has signed an agreement for long-term collaboration with PetroVietnam.
The agreement would allow GE to supply future key oil and gas projects in Vietnam with its products and services.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during his visit to Washington DC, the company said in a statement.
GE Oil & Gas has provided advanced technology equipment and services to several high-profile projects in Vietnam, including Dung Quat, the country's first oil refinery.
The MOU will enable the company to work more effectively with state-owned PetroVietnam on other large-scale projects including the Nghi Son Refinery, Long Son Refinery, Chevron Block B Off-Shore development and the Long Son Petrochem Complex, the statement said.
"This agreement will accelerate our already successful cooperation with GE Oil & Gas, reinforcing our long-term partnership to benefit the efficient development of oil and gas resources in Vietnam," said Nguyen Quoc Thap, vice president of PetroVietnam.
