Olam opens instant coffee facility in Vietnam

Olam, a leading global supplier of agricultural products and food ingredients has opened its latest soluble coffee manufacturing facility in Long An Province after two years of construction.

The supplier's first instant coffee facility, operated by affiliate Café Outspan Vietnam, produces bulk spray-dried coffee powder, freeze-dried coffee granules and coffee extracts for the unbranded and private label segment.

The Singapore-based firm invested US$50 million, its largest investment in Vietnam, in the facility which covers 5.3 hectares and has a capacity to produce 4,000 tons of products a year. These products will be exported to Europe, Russia, Japan and the Middle East.

Olam has operated two coffee processing facilities in Lam Dong Province and two others in Dak Lak Province for ten years. The facilities in the Central Highlands export 60-85 tons of products a year. The Mekong Delta province of Long An neighbors Ho Chi Minh City.
