Hundreds of litres of oil spilled during the salvage of a Japanese-owned ship near the resort city of Vung Tau on Sunday.

The Taku Yomura was expected to be brought inland today for repairs.

At around 6 a.m. on August 18 the ship sunk after a crash with Vietnamese-owned coal-carrying Blue Star on its way from the northern province of Quang Ninh to Ho Chi Minh City.

An oil spill then was reported and local agencies managed to fish some 400 liters of oil.
