Vietnam's telecom giants Viettel and Vinaphone have officially distributed a total of 15,000 units of the iPhone 4 since September, saying the demand for the luxury smartphone is still high.
Local news website VnExpress said in a report on Saturday (December 25) that the two companies, who are the only official distributors of the iPhone in Vietnam, will launch another batch of 2,000 phones into the market soon.
A Vinaphone spokesperson said there are still thousands of customers in the waiting list to buy the iPhone 4 through the company.
Vinaphone and Viettel began selling the previous versions - 3G and 3GS - of the iPhone in March. They started distributing the latest version iPhone 4 in September.
As their prices are lower than those at small-scale phone shops, there has always been a long waiting list and sales had to be decided by lucky draw.
The iPhone 4 was launched in the US in June and has been well received around the world.
Although sales of the phone in Vietnam pale in comparison with other country, the figure is higher than expected considering that the product is not what an average Vietnamese consumer can afford.
