Nicola Connolly, general director of Adecco Vietnam, has been elected as new chairwoman of the European Chamber of Commerce to replace Preben Hjortlund as he stepped down after two years at the helm.
Connolly describes her new role as “a fresh start to EuroCham” and vows to “improve EuroCham’s work to promote Vietnam as a trade and investment destination for both European and Vietnamese enterprise by improving the business environment.”
Connolly also said she “is looking forward to working with the government of Vietnam, and all our members and partners, both Vietnamese and European, to maximize their success in an ever more vibrant Vietnam”.
She will be supported by 15 other members of the new 2014 Executive Committee, which was voted by EuroCham members in Hanoi and HCMC on March 20.
The role of the committee is to guide and oversee the chamber’s activities as well as representing the interests of member companies towards institutional partners, the Vietnamese government and the public.
The new committee aims to provide a stronger and more unified voice on behalf of the chamber’s almost 800 European member companies over the coming months and plans on further increasing interactions with the members over the course of the year through business and cultural events.
