The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on Tuesday said a new slogan would be used to promote local tourism next year, replacing the current phrase: "The Hidden Charm."
A slogan writing contest will be held and the winning slogan is expected to be announced in September.
The new slogan will be used until 2015 and must be supported by local tourism companies, said Nguyen Manh Cuong, deputy head of the tourism administration.
The "Hidden Charm" slogan has been used for five years but many experts and tourism operators have expressed dissatisfaction with it, saying the slogan is too generic and not catchy enough.
Tran The Dung, deputy director of Young Generation Travel, said many people have suggested the word "hidden" be replaced.
