Metro Cash&Carry Vietnam has deployed a credit card payment system in an effort to make buying easier at its nationwide wholesale distribution system.

The business wholesaler signed agreements with Vietinbank (Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade) and VISA (Visa Worldwide Pte Limited) on January 7.

Vietinbank has agreed to provide card services and install card acceptance devices while VISA will provide technical support and user training.

Metro Cash&Carry now accepts local debit cards (ATM), international debit and credit cards such as Visa/MasterCard/JCB/CUP/Dinner's Club.

"An increased penetration of credit card use in our professional customers, and in the Vietnam's business community in general, will drive up the number of transactions and the speed of transactions through Metro stores, increasing the credit card market share and Metro's market share within the wholesale sector, as well as speeding up modernization of the country's trade activities," said Randy Guttery, Managing Director of Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam.

Launching the card payment system is part of a campaign to make buying easier at Metro's 16 centers nationwide. Over the past years, Metro has made several modifications including offering delivery services, improvements to its supply chain, check out system and facilitating registration process.
